Just about anyone who eats meat can appreciate the taste of a delicious cheeseburger. Did you know that Colorado is where it was invented? Louis Ballast successfully trademarked the word “cheeseburger” way back in 1935 in Denver.

Colorado has lots of interesting facts when it comes to roads. For starters, it is home to the highest paved road in the continent. The road to Mount Evans just off of I-70 from Idaho Springs rises to more than 14,150 feet above sea level. Denver is also the home of the longest continuous street in the country: Colfax Avenue.

Had it not been for Pikes Peak, the patriotic song “America the Beautiful” by Katharine Lee Bates and Samuel A. Ward may not have existed. Bates came up with the lyrics for the song when she was inspired by the vistas from the top. Pikes Peak is the highest summit of the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains.
