The winter temperatures are certainly a cool escape from the often sweltering heat, but many of us can’t tolerate the frigidness. If you happen to be in Ouray, Colorado, one of the easiest ways to stay warm is by visiting one of the Ouray County hot springs.

There are five public and private hot springs to explore. These include the pools at the Twin Peaks Lodge & Hot Springs, Ouray Hot Springs Pool, Ridgway’s Orvis Hot Springs, and the vapor caves of the Wiesbaden Hot Springs Spa & Lodgings. If you happen to be staying at Box Canyon Lodge and Hot Springs, you’ll have your fifth option.

As for the Ouray Hot Springs Pool, it underwent a massive renovation when it recently celebrated its 90th birthday. The pool now includes hot springs of varying temperature plus lap lanes and even shallow pools suitable enough for toddlers, provided their parents remain nearby. When you need to stay warm but also want to have a little fun, these pools are a great option! Plus, the minerals may do wonders for the body.

Ouray Hot Springs Pool is located at 1220 Main Street and opens at noon on weekdays.
