A website we’ve frequently highlighted in past blogs is OutThere Colorado. It often publishes lists of several notable outdoor places and experiences worth checking out while living or visiting Colorado, and Ouray—or places near Ouray—tend to be common among these lists.
The experience we’re talking about today is no exception.
OutThere Colorado recently took a look at ten of the most unique Colorado experiences and among those mentioned is the via ferrata. These are routes built onto the side of cliffs where intrepid travelers are suspending with wires and special equipment to traverse the cliff sides. Ouray Via Ferrata, for example, is made up of more than 3,5000 linear feet and also features a bridge stretching 35 feet near the entrance consisting of a single cable designed to be stepped on like that of a tightrope. Additional support is provided by a pair of hand cables. There is also another bridge that consists of four cables about 65 feet high, called the Skystair.
If you’re a thrill seeker, a via ferrata is certainly one experience you won’t soon forget. If it’s your first time doing it, strongly consider using an official guide.
